I’m Tim.

I live simply and quietly, so I guarantee you’ve never heard of me. Whenever I fantasize about being known, my introversion kicks me down a flight of stairs. I try not to fantasize any more. But my family knows me pretty well, so that’s good.

I’d also like to think I know myself, but do I? This Substack is the vehicle through which I intend to find out.

I write to explore and unpack how things keep moving forward despite making tons of mistakes. My essays usually focus on the weird self-defeating tricks our brains play on us and how to spot and overcome them. It’s the sort of stuff I wish I could teach my younger self, so maybe by some miracle I’ll end up teaching someone else’s younger self something that prevents an unnecessary bump in the road or even a minor catastrophe. I also occasionally write stories about the disasters and triumphs of my youth.
